Next Move - Fran O'Neill.
Exhibition Dates: August 10 - September 10, 2017.
Opening Reception: August 10, 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Fran O’Neill explores colour, scale and gesture using her body as her ‘brush’, describing her process as “organic, intuitive, and improvisational”. Her gestural abstraction does not “necessarily seek to recreate what [she] has seen, but more the emotional and physical experience of seeing”.
Born in Australia in 1971, Fran O’Neill currently lives between Newcastle, NSW and New York City. Following her debut at the Liman Studio Gallery, Palm Beach, FL in 2005, O’Neill has had an extensive exhibition history, exhibiting at John Davis Gallery, Hudson NY , Mars Gallery, Bushwick, NY and most recently Sensing Place at David & Schweitzer, Brooklyn, NY. She is the recipient of the prestigious Joan Mitchell Foundation Award, Shaw Award and Acker Award - San Francisco division, and was recently included in an exhibition at MoCA surveying the work of important female abstractionists from the collection, together with Helen Frankenthaler & Joan Mitchell.
