Max Manning in Texas Biennial

Congratulations to Max Manning who has been included in the 2017 Texas Biennial.

The biennial this year is curated by Leslie Moody Castro who has been appointed TX★17 Curator and Artistic Director. Moody Castro has a history of making artistic voices and the communities they work within central to her practice, all of which oscillate around the importance of place. Moody Castro toggles between Mexico City and Austin as her primary locations, but has an identity in itinerancy. Under Moody Castro’s leadership, TX★17 will magnify the excellence and diversity of contemporary art being produced in the state.

Leslie Moody Castro has organized and collaborated on exhibitions at Artpace San Antonio, for the Contemporary Art Month, San Antonio, Texas State University, CentralTrak Dallas, and Co-Lab Projects. She is committed to creating moments of artistic exchange and dialog and as such recently co-founded Unlisted Projects, an artist residency program in Austin, Texas.

Moody Castro is also a regular contributor for Artforum, Flash Art International, Frieze Magazine, ArtNews, and ArtCritical. Moody Castro earned her Master's degree at the University of Texas at Austin in Museum Education with a portfolio supplement in Museum Studies in 2010, and her Bachelor's degree in Art History at DePaul University in Chicago in 2004.
