'Borteh's forms teeter between creation and destruction' MoMA (PS1)
Chicago based artist Larissa Borteh works frantically to transcribe the visceral path of her mind through imagery.
In this latest body of work on view at TWFINEART the surfaces become distressed entanglements of agitated marks and fractured figures. Facial features, appendages, and complete structures are displaced, multiplied, and pliant. Notions of polarity, malice, and chaos emerge in allegorical fragments.
