'The Painter III' began as a real-time investigation and visual response to the movements of an artist creating a painting live in the gallery. While the subject is the same as ‘The Painter I & II, this piece was created from a different vantage point and starting composition (white acrylic on raw canvas). After one session with the artist, Briony then worked back into the piece on her own. The key at the top and bottom of the piece show the order in which different colours and marks were added.
The evolution of the painting has been documented as it has evolved from this starting point. See visual archive here.
