Born in Hong Kong, Chris Cook moved to the United Kingdom in the 1990s and studied fine art at De Montfort University in Leicester, followed by post graduate studies in fine art at the Royal Academy of Art in London. In 2011, Cook re-located back to Hong Kong and since then has been concentrating on a body of work titled Changes.
Changes reflects the vibrant, colourful, crowded, and noisy city of Hong Kong, that continually provides her with inspiration and combines perfectly with her own technically accomplished and vibrant aesthetic. Cook continues to work with a certain palette of colour which is repeated in unpredictable geometric shapes arranged loosely within a structured grid format to create a combination of order, contradiction and flux. The name of the series reflects the unpredictable nature of colour and how each artwork changes from moment to moment reacting to environmental light, seemingly with a life of their own.
